VIDHI & Me: one best friend deserves another ;)
Happy birthday sassy!!! Its your 7th birthday that u're gonna celebrate with me, so for me you are basically just 7 year old now. Flattered already?? Well i'll try to be sweet in lines to come since its your birthday and im supposed to stay nice but pardon me just in case I end up bitching about you :p.
My dear and near buddy Vidhi Singh has earned this title of sassy only since last 3 years. Ah dude!! Trust me she used to be a complete nerd in her 11-12th (precisely the time when our friendship began). I had shifted to a new school in 11th to the school where she already had her chuddy-buddy friends. She was one of those quiet girl in the class and how this silent girl made friends set me to wonder. The starting few months we didn't even know each other's names properly and that too despite the fact that we attended the same coaching. It was one of the functions in our school that got us close and interacting with each other. Blah!!! Plzz dont think I'm narrating any love story but ya the kind of friendship that has started growing since then is no less a bliss even. It was after interacting with her that I understood it was wrong of me to have judged her as the quiet one ; she just kept her volume low. I soon realised she has got those patient ears very eager to hear whatever you have got to tell her; a large heart that can keep and lock all your secrets; wit enough to advice and counsel you in the best way possible and yes the fearless tongue that voiced her fair-mind and even her irritation at times.
And so I had found my first perfect friend in the new school and soon I found myself bunking coaching just to sit and gossip with her at our favourite adda "cream bell".
Cream bell has been a witness to all our girl talks, our bitchings, our crush, our breakup (ok ok my breakup :p she was the goodie shoes), our worries, who broke up with whom and who is dating whom secretly and also those serious times when we discussed our not-so-great careers.
Two years and we were in different cities. Long distance relationship sux but with friends its completely opposite. Even at the most unearthly hours we would just call each other only to narrate our college's firsts (the first proposal, the first fight, the first embarrassing moment, the first ****** rest all censored :p). We would now eagerly wait for that day of the year when we would rendezvous at cream bell just like our old days. And then passing by our school, our coaching; Ohman!! what nostalgia :(
Oh wait!! I forgot to narrate what brought about the transformation in my simple nerd-type friend to her being titled sassy. Well I played no role in it, I was a mere surprise witness to that as her college life went on to make her the trendy, modish, spiffy and my sassy. On each college break as we met she surprised us with her new fashion gimmicks. And finally here she is now our geek-turned-sassy.
Its been 7 years of our friendship and we know each other inside out. So beware Vidhi in years to come I might hold you to ransom in case you don't want your future husband to know some of your real embarrassing stuff ;)
At this point i feel glad that we are free to choose our friends and I am glad we found each other. One too much of goodie shoes and practical and the other too wild and too busy directing her own fantasies; one with those lady like soft and polite manners and the other one still a girl in loafer shoes and fooling around. Together we manage to stay level-headed without having to compromise with our devil-may-care attitude. Although now our everyday world has taken over and we don't get to meet quiet often and sometimes we might just talk after a month long break but in the heart of our hearts we still know there is someone just a call away who is ready to listen to all our non-sense and uplift the worst of our moods.
